Yes, you can redownload XBLA games and marketplace content, but if it's
on a console other than the one you first downloaded it to, then you
won't be able to play them unless the profile that actually bought them
the first time round is signed in to Live.
As I've just replied to Jochta saying, that is incorrect. Well in many
instances anyway. As you know, I got my XBLA games working again with no
problems, as have many others, yet for some reason there are as many
other people, such as yourself, trying to get a points refund because the
system isn't working for them. It's a weird situation, surely there
should be a working, documented way of sorting out the
transfer/redownloading of XBLA games.
Perhaps I misunderstood your situation - I thought that you had had to
contact MS to get it resolved (ie that you had the problems as described
above when you received your repaired/replaced console, and that MS had
been able to reset some server based flag that allowed the re-downloads to
be seen as the orginal purchase, IYSWIM). I'm not sure where I got that
idea from, to be fair, and if it's not the case then I think you are the
first person I've heard about where things have 'just worked' without any
need to contact MS. The main difference that I've seen is that for some
people MS have been able to rejig the DRM such that they could just
redownload them, and in other cases they haven't and thus have given
refunds.
Apologies if I've misunderstood.
Presumably some kind of notification/flag would have had to be made,
otherwise what's distinguishing Steve's replacement with someone else's?
