COD4's online not working ever anymore. I tried friday and sunday
night and have barely managed to connect to a lobby, let alone a game.
I know why it is, but short of replacing my router so that I can get
my NAT to show as "open" (currently "moderate"), or going round
someone's house and sorting out their network so as they don't show up
as strict, I can't see me playing this online again unless I drag my
360 downstairs and plug it straight into the cable modem.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they run a BETA before this game was
released? What was that for it not to prevent networking issues? The
forthcoming update sounds like they are fixing the most fundamental issues
that should have been worked out before release.
I think there's a fundamental network issue at the bottom of the
problem that is causing the issues, although I've seen them dealt with
much better - Lost Planet worked, but I couldn't see or speak to
people with strict nat settings within the game...I could kill them if
I knew where they were (taking over a charge pod thing for instance),
but they didn't appear visually at all.
It'd be nice if people were booted if they had strict NAT, but these
people have paid their money to MS and I suppose they deserve a
service too.
I think I'm just going to have to buy a new router and then I won't
have to worry about this stuff.
