PLAY

XIII (PC): Well, I would've been if it worked properly. I think I got this
free with my graphics card and I'd forgotten all about it until Saturday
night. The game gives me two options - to either play from the CDs (there's
four of them), or to install all 2.4 gigs to the hard drive and play from
there. Obviously, it made sense (or so I thought) to run it off the hard
drive. Wrong.

I installed the game, struggled with the broken English during the
installation and tried playing it. "Please insert the CD of XIII into the
CDROM". Yep, I could tell this wasn't going to be good. Which CD? And all
four of them were technically speaking "CDROMs" anyway. So I tried one after
another. Turned out it was the fourth CD it wanted.

Game boots up, I set my graphics and sound settings and start the game.
After a longwinded intro (running from the CD, not the hard drive -
should've known something was up) another message popped up: "Please insert
CD2 or press cancel to leave the game now". If I wanted to waste my night
swapping discs, I wouldn't have wasted thirty minutes installing it to my
hard drive, would I? I gave up. I'm simply not sure why the game wanted
2.4GB of my hard drive when it wasn't even going to use it.

Job applications (RL): There's an office admin job that I really want with
pay that's really good, so I've been (and actually still am) working on the
application. Thanks to Royal Mail being arseholes, I now know that at least
three of my 17 previous applications went missing in the post (I did a lot
of phoning around last week for feedback), so this one's going by Recorded
Delivery, with an electronic version to the potential employer.

Two Worlds demo (PC): It's no Oblivion, that's for sure, but it does look
pretty.

Second Life (PC): Still spending a lot of time here, although I don't know
why. I've also started playing around the Beta grid too, although it's a
billion times slower when the scripters are using prim-replication weapons
that are something like a griefer's wet dream. Oh, and this Havok 4 thing
doesn't seem to work too well either.

WANT

An interview for the job application I'm working on.

Freebie games that come with hardware to actually work.

Money.

BIN

Unemployment. I really need this job!

Paul.
