Ah, but you should see the way it was run! Delays, no-shows, "wrong kind
I hope you guys realise how funny this conversation is to a Tube-user....
60 years is young!
of snow", "we apologise for the delay of up to 12 minutes. This is due to
chavs on the line..." (that last one was an actual announcement). At least
the tube's underground, so snow can't be used as an excuse!
However, despite these problems, ticket prices continue to rise. At the
moment a monthly all-zone ticket is £21.20. True, it does cover the entire
network, but it's still expensive, and it'll probably go even higher once
the "upgrades" are carried out... :-(. Yup, can't wait for the morning
crush again... :-)
£127.50 a month here. And that's just for the zones I need. As for crushes,
you really should try peak hour on the Tube. As for speed, it takes me an
hour to travel the 14 road miles I need to to get to work. But I consider
that fast and don't mind.
Having said that, it is reliable - we have break downs and delays, but the
fact that major ones only happen once a week or so is pretty amazing given
the age and complexity of the system.
