Relegating Nasty Football Teams (RL)
Although it's debatable whether I can claim ownership of the
achievements of
the football team I support, I'm going to. So farewell then, Dirty
Leeds.
Saturday's shitty behaviour (including a fan assaulting a town player
even
before the mass pitch invasion) has eroded any last hint of sympathy I
might
have had. Here's looking at the points deduction you'll take with you
into
league 1.

Why does one assume that because a hundred people were complete wankers
that therefore the other 30,000 people there and the countless other
thousands following at home condone this cuntery. We are no more dirty
or shitty than the national team, we, like England, have a very small
and unfortunate following with a desire to cause trouble who are
completely unrepresentative of the club or fans as a whole.

Well, unrepresentative minority or not, they've been at it for decades. I've
regularly watched Ipswich at home for over 20 years. In that time,
incidentally, not once have I seen our supporters (even a mindless minority)
storm the pitch and attack visiting players, or try to get into the away
fans to give them a kicking. In that time, there's *always* trouble when
Leeds visit, to the point where at one stage in the late 80s, I considered
not going to the game, even though I had a season ticket at the time. No
other club, even those where we have a particular rivalry (Norwich, Sheff
Utd, etc) have caused as much aggro as Leeds.
I did have some small amount of sympathy prior to Saturday's events. We've
been through a similar wringer, having had a very expensive relegation from
the Premiership after spending millions on our stadium. We were on the brink
about 2 years ago, and have had nothing but mediocrity since, having had to
sell our best players for next to nothing. The last time we failed in the
play-offs, we lost 5 of our regular starting eleven, who between them had
contributed over 50 goals that season. Since then, we haven't even had any
decent players to sell, so we've been scraping by on scraps of income we can
get for anyone that another club has half an interest in (that's how you
picked up Ian Westlake, by the way).
It's never nice to see a well supported team get relegated, especially when
it puts doubts over the future of the club altogether, and every club has
its share of decent, passionate fans who, in your case, deserve better than
what's happening on the field and the reputation that these morons have
successfully cultivated over the past 30 years.
However, you know how football is. Your fans attack us and our players - we
laugh at you for your misfortune. A couple of seasons ago, we relegated
Brighton. That day there was a great deal of sympathy, and fans mixed
together without problems, sharing stories and best wishes. That would
*never* happen with Leeds.

Chris.
