Is it really an issue though, I mean won't most people tend to just log into live automatically whenever the machine is on? Only problem I can see is if the 'net connection is down, or am I missing something?

That's a big thing on its own - I was playing on my 360 while my net connection was down just this weekend - but there's also the fact that only I can play the games and use the content on a new 360, but my wife won't be able to, Internet or no Internet.
