Assuming XP: Ever tried setting yourself up as a user on your own
computer and only running as admin when you want to install/uninstall
software? I'm considering doing that next time I do a re-bild in order
to take permissions away from myself and make it safer on the internet
and so forth but I don't know how irritating it would get or really if

Whilst *nix advocates will say otherwise, I think on a single user home
Windows machine as long as you have a decent AV & firewall & don't go
round downloading cracks and warez like there's no tomorrow then there's
little to worry about.
The way of thinking is obviously influenced by my recent experiences
with linux.
I thought it would go some way towards stretching my usual 18-month XP
lifecycle to a little longer: maybe much longer. I just don't know how
annoying it would be because most windows software developers wouldn't
expect that configuration so it may break a lot of apps.
