Anyone know if there's a technical reason why any PC game would *have*
to be played online in 60Hz these days, or is it just shoddy
programming? I ask, as this appears to be an (undocumented) requirement
for playing Outrun 2006 online on PC.

i don't even think my monitor can do 60Hz :/

Most TFTs run best at 60hz, so for a large proportion of users it would be
fine. I know of course that people who use their PC for gaming often prefer
CRTs and so 60hz only would become an issue.

actually every TFT monitor i've ever bought/come across has had the
"best" resolution/refresh on a sticker on the front, and afaicr they
all seem to recommend 75Hz for optimal performance.

but as i said in my reply to ste, my previous statement came around
after the C+C collection decided to try and run the older games at
some daft refresh rate which the monitor couldn't handle, which i
thought was 60Hz, but obviously wasn't :)
