Of course, having the Gamecube controller port there, as it has on
Revolution, could mean all games that benefit from a 'traditional' control
method use that pad instead - but that will just make the motion thing an
even faster fading fad, in my book. And it will mean Nintendo making a
sensible decision (by urging developers to make certain games use the old
pad), sadly they have made less and less sensible decisions of late though.
I maybe should have thought more of this before firing from the hip, as I
love the Gamecube pad, and having the option just might be enough for me to
stick with Nintendo for this next-gen ride - but is it really a good thing
that what could be the majority of Revolution titles will use the 'old',
last generation pad? I suppose it never hurt Sony.....who used the "if it
isn't broke, don't fix it" approach with their 2nd hardware outing. The PSX
pad was good, so they [basically] kept it for PS2.
It's just a bloody good thing the 'old' option will be there [something I
temporarily forgot about during my fit of absolute panic on seeing the new
'controller']
I'm calming down a bit now. Better smoke another 'special roll-up' and
rethink about withdrawing that pre-order! ;)
