Does that mean that the left stick is forward, backward and sideways strafing,
and the right stick up, down and turn? In that case it would be the layout I
use most for FPS on consoles.

Yeah that's what made it interesting for me too, although it has been done
before with Messiah, but not in the same way.

    ... I found that I despise when movement and turning are done on ... I forget what the right stick up/down did, but yes the turning was on the ... Perhaps I don't play enough "typical" FPS games, but with the set of 3D games ... turning on a separate stick doesn't work for me. ...
