Yes, and yes. Remember, people had been waiting years for this game to
appear. The release date got pushed back further and further while they
sorted out technical issues and perfected the game. Although the
Dreamcast was officially dead, there's no doubt it would still have been a
big commercial success.

Look at HL2 on the xbox - it did not sell in big numbers - anyone who wanted
to play the HL games has so on the PC.
So it would not have saved the DC.
