That's probably it. By the sound of it it's in a S-Video only socket at the moment.
Probably not. The DC's RGB lead is fairly unique in that it *only* carries an RGB picture, and not any other type. Plug a DC RGB lead into a non-RGB socket, and you'll get a black screen with sound.
