The Manchester Gen Gon was singular, 2000 iirc, and whilst OK had a number of problems.
A lot of the games were in separate "classrooms", which couldn't hold more than three tables, some only one, and were scattered across different floors of the tower block. The trade hall was on two floors, neither of which was incredibly large. The CCGs were in a hall across campus, which leaked when it rained, and the site staff weren't willing to help sort that out.
Oh yes, and it was in Manchester's red light district. Stories have been told, on this group from memory, of walking back to rooms after a late game, so see a bloke getting their money's worth under the arches.
At least Reading is (was) a closed campus...
