We (Occult Entertainment) are currently developing three worlds for
Dungeons & Dragons: Zymph, Dark Earth, and MuN.

And we need your help!

Anything you can contribute would be great - ideas, settings, heroes,
etc.

We have had these worlds for over 7 years now, but we have never
translated them over to electronic format. We figured while we were
doing this, we would give Dungeons & Dragons players a chance to put
their 2 cents in - to help shape the worlds.

We figured once we posted the worlds, we could make them a community
project - implementing everyone's suggestions, changes, and ideas,
and then publishing the updated version once a week.

Below is a brief description of the worlds we are asking you to help
us
with:

..::ZYMPH::..
The three-sunned planet. This world is a typical D&D world - magic,
dragons, goblins, etc. Earths distant and forgotten past...

..::Dark Earth::..
A planet devastated by war, this modern day (slightly in Earths
future)
setting is comprised of a vampiric society - with a few true humans
thrown in. Nexus, the city, is ruled by Clans, and most humans are
either "cattle" or in hiding...

..::MuN::..
The Technorganic planet. Super futuristic Earth - aliens, Federation
Of Planets, and more.

Keep in mind that these are VERY concise definitions, and we have just
started posting information about these worlds on our web site (and
MySpace Profile), so check them out. If you are interested, go to the
Work With Us section - or just submit us an idea.

Thanks!

I'd rather be a Fool who believes in Dragons,
Than a King who believes in Nothing

Silverblades has a good point with Spelljammer, but as he didn't explain
himself, I'll do it for him.

Some of the people on the Spelljammer Mailing List (SJML) might be able to
help you a lot with the fantasy planet Zymph. (Dark Earth and MuN are less
likely to be useful to them, but they still might be able to give you some
pointers.) One of the best developers on the SJML is a guy called Adam
Miller. He has designed

Spelljammer uses something called "crystal spheres" (gigantic spheres
containing entire solar systems). The SJML guys make new crystal spheres (as
well as doing other stuff) and always want new planets and moons to put in
them. They may want to help you expand Zymph into "Zymphspace" (a crystal
sphere with several other planets and moons as well as your world). Zymph
would remain a fairly normal fantasy world, but the *rest* of the worlds in
the sphere would be home to "spacefarers" who fly through Zymphspace on
magic powered spelljammer ships (and might occasionally visit your world).

If you are interested in sharing Zymph with the Spelljammer community or
touting for developers then you can join the list at:

http://oracle.wizards.com/archives/spelljammer-l.html

You can get more information about the SJML list (from an FAQ) and see an
archive that stretches back longer than the Oracle archive at:

http://sjml.spelljammer.org/

---------------------------------------

You might also want to think about the Planescape community (they have their
own mailing list). They would see Zymph (and your other worlds) as worlds on
the "Prime Material Plane". Your worlds would essentially be places that
their players can visit. They would want to create magical portals that
bring visitors to Zymph from an outer planar city called Sigil (or other
places in the planes). Again Zymph would remain your normal fantasy world,
but would occasionally be visited by these "outsiders".

If you are interested in sharing Zymph with the Planescape community or
touting for developers then you can join the list at:

http://oracle.wizards.com/archives/planescape-l.html

If you are able to provide some sort of support for either or both of these
settings you can then market your worlds to GMs and players that are always
on the lookout for new worlds to visit. If your world is compatible enough,
you might also be able to get the official Spelljammer and Planescape
websites to include Zymph or your other planets on their lists of worlds.

-------------------------------------

I've seen an organisation out there that is also developing a fantasy world.
They are called The Vintyri Project (their world is called The Vintyri
World). They seem a very professional bunch and were very helpful to me when
I contacted them a couple of years ago. You might want to look over their
work and ask them for some advice. Their free "RPG Campaign Setting and
Design Guide" download will probably be *very* interesting to you (it gives
lots of really useful tips for making a world work). Here is their website
address:

http://www.vintyri.com/vintyri/index.htm

Good luck with all three of your worlds!

PS: If you are going to tout for developers you should really tell people if
your finished work will be for sale or free (or if you haven't decided yet),
as that might influence their decision either way.

First of all, thank you for all of the links you gave. We are about to
check them out (after we finish this response).

Just for the record, we are doing this for free - everything Occult
Entertainment does is for free (see our web site). We are kind of like
the Mozilla Foundation, but we do games.
We'll have to start putting that in our developers requests though,
because you have a good point.

Thank you everyone for your responses and help! We definitely need
them! Anything else anyone can think up, please let us know!
