As I hadn't used
my card since Saturday I didn't know anything of this transaction
either as it hadn't yet appeared on my online statement.
You 'phoned them last Friday and were told that your account was being
blocked, and then you used your card on Saturday?
This is the problem with liars, they rarely get their facts straight.
I am not a liar and yes I did use my card on Saturday as I needed
money. I took out £10.00. My card was supposed to be blocked but
wasn't, hence my account not being in a "fraud state".

Quite. You used your card legitimately, presumably via an ATM with the
correct PIN, so the Bank helpfully "unblocked" your account again
because that was obviously what you now wanted. I'd call that good
customer service which enabled you to get your much-needed cash.

Let me explain more clearly why I used my card on the Saturday.. On
the Firday, whilst at work, I had to telephone the bank and query
about direct debits that had to be paid from my account on a weekly
basis, usually a Monday. I was not sure if the bank would still
allow these direct debits to be taken from my account due to to what
was happening with my account.

So whilst phoning them, I got through to a woman at customer service
who had told me that all direct debits would contnue to be taken from
my account, my account would also allow for payments to be made into
it I could withdraw money from my account if I went into a branch of
the bank and MAYBE could still get money by using the cash machine.
She wasn't 100% sure about this. She then told me that transactions
made over the internet and by telephone would be the only ones that
would be blocked.

I am reading between the lines that the banks can block transactions
on a card if a specific method is used to try and obtain goods (e.g
over the phone, internet etc) due to the fact that I was told that
tranactions couldn't be used to obtain goods if any of these methods
were used. I don't know whtether this can jappen or it happened cause
no method had been blocked at all.
