My credit score is very good, I have no outstanding unpaid debt and no
missed payments in the last 6 years. However, I have recently applied for
a credit card and been refused because my partners problems are associated
with me. The only financial links I have to him are through a limited
company we jointly own. What can I do to make it clear to the agencies
that I am not responsible for his debt.
I am aware I can send a letter of disassociation but will that be accepted
as I have a business account with him?
If you jointly own a company then you clearly are financially linked.
But even without this link, surely the fact that you are "partners"
makes you just as financially linked as if you were married.
If you were to write a letter of disassociation you would therefore
be committing fraud.
