Thats right. It neednt be the bank or branch at which the payee maintains his account but it is the branch at which he must present the cheque for collection. But as a previous poster says, it is likely to cause consternation at the counter.
However, I accept that things may well have changed in forty plus years since I dealt with such things. I hear they use computers now.

I'm also old enough to remember the real Martins bank, with the magnificent golden grasshopper. Shame on you Barclays, for burying that.
Same here. Its where I had my first savings account. Ther old HO in Liverpool is an impressive building.
