The links to which you refer relate to the drawee's charges on the
drawer.

The OP is a payee and the charges which are potentially applied relate
to the collector's charges in handling the unpaid cheque which the payee
presented.

My links refer to the legality of charges levied by banks and financial
institutions in general. These charges, for whatever purpose, are of
doubtful legality, and so-called 'handling charges' do not seem to be
exempt.

If the OP is charged anything at all for the default of someone else, he
should reclaim the charge.

Now, perhaps you will tell me on what basis you feel entitled to quiz
other contributors as to the relevance of their posts on this newsgroup?
