This is definitely the option i'd take at this stage !

ISTR there was a post in uk.legal about 3 months ago from a friend of
someone in similar circumstances - the wife had buggered off and left
them in a difficult situation.

Your wife may still have some right to a share of the property in the
event of a divorce, but keeping it in your name might make it harder for
someone trying to fleece you.
