account. On Monday, the 1st payment of £250 was transferred out of the
direct premier current account to go to the linked regular saver, however,
today is Thursday and the amount is still not there. So, where's my money
sitting for these four (or more?) days? I know the interest rate of the
regular saver is quite good, but 4 days (or more?) to transfer money
internally between accounts operated by the same institution does seem
extraordinary.
Whenever I've transferred money between accounts in an institution it's
always been instantaneous.
When I transfer funds from my Nationwide current account to my Nationwide e-savings account (online), they vanish immediately from the current account, but don't appear in the e-savings account until the next working day. Neat way of avoiding paying interest methinks. Three days does sound excessive though. The latest Which? report on current accounts doesn't rate A&L very highly at all - despite their market leading rates.
In the days when I had an account with the late lamented Leeds, they had a notice to allow up to - from memory - twelve working days for deposited cheques to clear. So things are improving - slowly.
