Yes, that would be annoying, but the reason could be that you did not have

I am in a process of setting up a HiSAVE account with this Indian bank. I
have noticed that they set-up two direct debits on my current account with
A&L. When I questioned it I was told that they always set two direct
debits, the second one as a back-up. I do not know what to think about
that. Has anyone else used the bank and had two direct debits set-up?
Best regards

I only had to set up one direct debit... had no problems at a time when
there appeared to be mayhem for everyone else, however one transaction I
had really put me off.
I transferred £25k to Hisave only to find that it never left my current
account in January 2006. Despite 4 emails to icici and their confirmed
receipts this error still exists.
In my mind it would not take many errors like mine before their accounting
errors become unsustainable!
this second "backup" DD set up -:) I did not set up two DD, they did.
But seriously, what puzzles me is why it should be necessary to use DD to
transfer money from your current account to HiSAVE account. Why not just
make a bank transfer from your other bank current account to HiSAVE.
Is that not allowed or possible with HiSAVE ?
