Scope used to be "The Spastics Society". My wife works as a volunteer
in one of their shops and says that *all* their national shops are to
close - that it was in the newspapers over the weekend.

Can't find anything on the Internet. If I can buy jeans in Tesco for
£3, shoes for £12, and everything else I want on Ebay, I can't see us
rushing out to buy overpriced tat in a Charity Shop.

Is it true and if so is it a trend?

Don't know about them. There are too many charity shops though, and they are
finding it difficult to make money. One of the problems is a lack of
volunteers. They are bringing in more and more paid help. There is also
pressure on rents in many areas.
