Microchips in bins which help councils charge for the weight of
rubbish collected could be common across the UK within two years.

The stuff that isn't being recycled anyway ?

Didn't I also read this weekend that the stuff we do "recycle" is sent
abroad at great expense?

Some is sent abroad, but presumably because it's the cheapest
option ?

It didn't sound cheap. And if we can't guarantee its safe disposal
maybe we shouldn't.

Time for a real solution as I suspect charging by weight will increase
fly tipping massively.

I imagine. Interestingly I get the impression that the powers that be
are tooling up to crack down on fly tipping.

But how? CCTV everywhere?

(Or should I invent a wheely bin lock now and cash in?)

Which would help how ?

If you're going to be charged for what you throw away and you don't
want to pay you'll dump your rubbish somewhere - some will dump it in
wheely bins that are left unattended, or just dump it on the street.
If you're shredding all personal documents or not putting them out
with the rubbish then your waste becomes tricky to track down.

The whole recycling thing seems silly at the moment. I can't recycle
cardboard - or green waste - so if I put these things in the rubbish I
get charged - but other roads under this council can recycle green
waste - completely unfair.
