Did anyone see the feature on the BBC this morning. The cull in
Northumberland results in selling the meat in supermarkets, and squirrel
meat is said to be selling well. As the numbers decline in Northumberland
the operation is moving to Durham.

If grey squirrel meat becomes popular enough to be a commercially viable
product, it won't be long before the squirrels are seen as a valuable
resource, worthy of conservation, in common with other 'game'.

The RSPCA spokesman's views on the ethics of culling one species in an
attempt to 'save' another were reminiscent of Angus's, I thought.
