Did you look at the picture I placed on the web? Even you could surely
not claim that damage was done there.
As I have said. City businesses have to put up with all kinds of damageAs I said, there are several rights of way, which make this difficult and
and erect expensive fencing and other security measures such as CCTV,
alarms, expensive locks etc.. Some rabbit fencing along the edge of
the wood could well make a substantial difference.
it would be very expensive.
The then Defra, (or was it Min of Ag) had a right to come in and
control them if they were considered a problem.
They'd have to prove the problem wouldn't they?
You don't comment here. Do you think any landowner such as a TrustSome years ago I had an aerial photo, which clearly illustrated
the severely grazed semi-circles on the boundary fields, marking
out the warrens.
should allow economic damage to the neighbours?
We all have to live with economic damage but few have the option ofIt's not cheap. Trusts do not have the sort of money to install fences
killing the perpetrators. In the cities we have to erect expensive
fencing around properties to prevent economic damage. Rabbit fencing
is cheap and would reduce much of the problem.
around a place of some 32 acres.
Neither do many businesses but they have to find it to survive.Out of the £120 per annuim I get to buy the necessary blades, 2 stroke,
servicing etc. it would be out of ouir league anyway.
If youAnd who do you think is able to pay for rabbit fencing to do this if we
can't afford to run the reserve you should sell it to someone who can.
are not?
In the past we put in one along one boundary with special gates to
allow badgers to pass, but imagine having to include systems of gates
on the rights of way through the reserve.
I don't think there's much imagination required.
No you don't have much of a clue.
If you had a neighbouring farm suffering from a similar situation
they could force you to do the same, or come and do it themselves.
They could try.You may get in another tangle with the powers that be.
I wouldn't lose much sleep about that but I would oppose them on all
available fronts if they came to gas rabbits on our ground.
And like some other backwoodsman you would never admit that you were
being unreasonable but you would isolate yourself still further from
your neighbours. And you would lose, because there are laws.
Unlikely.Say no more. :-)
