But better not to plant trees where there were resident goats.
Why, exactly. Do you think it better to have goats rather than trees?
Or would it be a better idea to shoot the goats, as is done with deer
that browse on young trees?
Deer shouldn't be shot either. You consider yourself free to consume
whatever you want and in what quantity you feel like, yet you would
deny other species the same right to eat to survive under penalty of
death. Typical selfish attitude.
I would expect the deer (and the goats) to end up on a dinner plate
(or as carrion for necrophages), given that they cannot achieve the
destiny nature intended for them - to be eaten by wolves.
Not for 350 years. And since you seem to know about deer being the
prey of wolves, what percentage of the deer population was actually
caught?
Pretty much 100% of them. Wild animals seldom die from old age.
So all deer were caught by wolves?
Or injured by them - and so fell to bears, eagles, crows etc.
So all deer were injured or killed by wolves?
So why did the population of deer only start to rise exponentially
(too big a word for you - look it up) in the last few decades?
Change of predator. Then Highlanders got bored with this method of
feeding themselves when they saw what Tesco had on offer :-)
So man is responsible for the increase in deer not the lack of wolves?
Exactly.
Good. At last you're accepting my argument
Sentimental twits made hunting seem neanderthal and it has
declined due to peer-group pressure. Whereas it is a more honest
method of getting one's daily bread than much of today's farming. Ask
any Inuit if you don't believe me.
Garbage. Hunters don't come here from all over the world for their
"daily bread". They come to kill an artificially high deer population
manipulated for their grizzly fun and entertainment.
It seems you are happy to accept my reasoning, while at the same time
labelling it garbage. Are you sure you haven't been drinking?
Nonsense. I'm happy you accepted my argument but your latter
reasoning is garbage for the reason I have stated.
These are not hunters. These are chinless psychopaths who would much
prefer to kill people if they were allowed to, but work it out on
animals and birds instead.
These scum are what the stalking estates cater for.
Wrong again. It the shooting industry that has increased the numbers.Alas, wolves had been hunted to extinction in Britain before the
change of attitude to it had taken place.
The change didn't take place until about 300 years after the last wolf
was shot.
Exactly. Surplus deer were being eaten by people until recent times.
You seem to be getting a handle on this stuff at long last.

First, it is ridiculed;
Second, it is violently opposed; and
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
