Commenting on today's ruling in the Court of Appeal, Douglas
Batchelor, Chief Executive of the League Against Cruel Sports, said:
'I am delighted that the Court of Appeal has ruled that the ban on
hunting in no way breaches European human rights trading and
employment regulations. It beggars belief that the Countryside
Alliance seriously believes there can be a human right to pursue and
kill animals for pleasure. What made the challenge even more
preposterous is that the Alliance itself now admits that the ban has
not in any way ruined the rural economy.'
Now, if I were Malcolm Oglivie, I wonder what I would say about the
Countryside Alliance in two words - the second one being "off" :-))
