From South Wales Evening Post

Wildlife experts say that visitors to the National Wetlands Centre in
Llanelli need not fear about the risk of bird flu. They say they are closely
monitoring the situation and are carrying out a wild bird surveillance
programme, along with offering expert advice to the Government on waterbird
migration.

The very fact they are "closely monitoring the situation" shows there
is a risk.

Nigel Williams, centre manager at the National Wetland Centre, in
Penclacwydd, said: "The safety of our visitors, staff, volunteers and the
wildlife at our centres are of utmost importance to us and we are constantly
reviewing and checking our procedures and we would not be open if our centre
was not safe.

The problem is they don't know what's safe. What is <really safe> is
to avoid visiting reserves.

"There is no reason why people should avoid visiting areas with wild birds
or be fearful of them."

Of course there's a reason! There is a risk and it seems the reason
for writing this letter is more to do with the concern for a reduced
number of visitors:-(
