The Royal Highland Show organisers have taken the responsible decision
to cancel the bird event.

But the bird reserve owners aren't so responsible.

They should close the reserves until the threat of bird flu recedes.

But they probably won't - because it would cost them money:-)

If it was anyone but Angus, it would be difficult to imagine how someone
could be so ignorant as to equate a poultry show, which is held inside
and at which people can get close up and personal with poultry, with a
bird reserve where birds and people are kept well apart.

The action of the WHS is a responsible one in the course of taking
precautions against the possibility of infection being spread in
poultry. So far it is thought that no poultry in Scotland has the
disease but that the infection could be among incoming wildfowl, of
which thousands congregate at bird reserves.

However, we know that, in Angus's case, it is not based on ignorance but
on a deliberate distortion of the facts because all he is doing is
pursuing his vendetta against conservation organisations.

Asw birs faeces are probably a know source of infection and birds do
not crap where they are told ot is entirely possible that a child
could come inot contact with infected faeces at a reserve.

I cannot see why the reserves are not taking precautionary to shut
these reserves until the risk recedes unless they are more concerned
with the money they might lose.
