I went into teaching pretty much like you, they tell you that it does make a difference and then you discover half-way through training that some schools MAY give you 1 or possibly 2 increments on the pay-scale, i.e. start at MPS 2 or 3, or if you are extremely lucky and get offered MPS 4 you'll get stuck at that for two to three years anyway. All the teaching agencies said my work experience counted for nothing (I have considerably more than you) and they wanted to put me at the bottom of the pay-scale as did any of the schools that offered me a permanent job!
