I gave up a full-time business in September 2005 to start teaching.
Alongside that I'd been working with the Internet services company,

As it happens, for personal reasons (I care for someone who is very ill)
my first post is part-time, which is far from ideal, but I don't have
many options in the matter.

I just don't think that it deserves to have a say in education, just as
I don't think it should have a say in health policy, or environmental
policy. I don't think that is such an unusual position, however
flabbergasting you may find it.

I can't speak for health or environment but I'd say it is a very unusual
position to hold with respect to education which is a different sector -

So if you don't think it is very odd to believe that business should not
have a say over health policy, can you offer some positive reasons why
it should have say over education? ("Because it suits business" is not
an answer I find very persuasive.)
