Just heard a rumour from our new head that y6 teachers are not
allowed
to
be
involved with the Y6 Sat tests is this right anyone heard about
this
rule
change.

Terry

AFAIK no teachers should be involved - new terms and conditions
state teachers shouldn't invigilate external exams.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Does that mean that the Y6 teachers are not allowed near?

No, but why would you want to be there, it's the children doing the
exam not you!

I'm annoyed that I wasn't consulted when the Yr 6 team voted to keep
invigilating SATs, I would prefer not to take my maths class for it,
it's a waste of my time sitting there unable to do anything
constructive for 45 min!

You DO NOT have to invidulate SAT exams if you personally don't want
to...

In an answer that I got from a local NASUWT official "It is not a
breach of contract for teachers not to inviduate SAT's. In fact it is
the Headteacher that would be in breach of the law for requiring
teachers to break their contractural terms!!!!!".

It doesn't matter what other staff have "voted for".

The changes are very clear in paragraphs 78-82 of the "Teachers Pay
and Conditions Booklet".

However this is is all very late notice if the exams are next week.

Does your school have and union reps!!! It should all have been sorted
out from September 2005, which was when the changes came in.........

"invidulate" ... and there it is again.
