Hello, I asked my governors of the primary school where I am head this
evening if they would agree to my working at home for a half-day
occasionally, perhaps once or twice a term. They discussed the matter
after asking me to leave, and want to ask the LEA for their advice, and
also whether this is common elsewhere. I know a number of heads locally
who do this, and wonder if it happens widely throughout the UK ? Of
course, the deputy would be responsible in my absence, and she would
also be teaching her class. Any comments ?
As head, the day to day running of the school is your responsibility,
and this includes the deployment of staff. Where you do your work is
your decision. It only becomes a governor issue if you spend your time
at home playing with the cat.
