*was* your purpose in posing such a simple problem? Can you solve it?

Here's one for you: ...never mind. The group can be filled with such
problems. What you might consider is listing sources of such problems
for teachers similarly inclined, if that is what you had in mind. You
might look into the Russian Mathematical Olympiad, or any other
similar source for some more exciting variations. There is a site of
problems for competition, for example, for junior and high school
children, from a university in Minnesota I came across, but have
forgotten the URL. I'll post it here when I come across it again, or
if I recall it. Why don't you do the same?
