I'm doing the unit about repeating patterns. In the children's prompt
*** it says there is an option to select tile.

I can't find it.

I've worked out how to make a little picture, copy it, paste it
several times like wrapping paper.

Is the *** calling that picture a tile?

Also - am I right to use Paint rather than Colour Magic? I want the
children to produce their own little pictures, not use ready-made
stamps.

I do it with CM.
They are not allowed to use stamps (although a YR 6 child has just produced
the most stunning illustration with his own drawing and a stamp).
They do their own design - sometimes using the symmetry tool. (we've used
Indian, African and other designs to base them on). Make them as big as
possible and then tile.
Also works really well with their initials if they take lots of trouble when
they draw them.
I just checked to see if I'd put any on our website yet, for you to see, but
I haven't.
