I know I shouldn't have - sorry Tony!

But I just saw this next door (I can't really say 'read' it)
Nope ... many authorities are waiting or working on authentication
methods via Shibboleth and this is part of the stumbling block.
Remember that RBCs have to look at working as part of the NEN as well
as with individual schools. Once SSO is sorted between schools and
RBCs then we can look at authentication within Moodle being a bit more
global.
We also have to remember that there are a raft of authentication
models available for Moodle and it is just that some are not
implemented by schools. POP is pretty much the best bet ... as long as
you allow POP access to school email accounts ... and then LDAP.
Work within NCC has been on hold for some time now but once the EMBC
stuff has been sorted then we should see more action.

And I just had to laugh.
It really is another world there - with its own language and *everything*!
