Can I be unusually thick and ignorant and ask what BC stands for?
--

BC = British Columbia. It is a province of Canada. When I visited it in the
70's they had an exhibition down in Gastown, Vancouver, which showed that
the British Isles (Great Britain and Ireland) would easily fit inside the
boundaries of BC with space over....

IIRC classes in Canada are in both French and English, as the country has
two official languages. A friend of mine - from the aforementioned 70s -
went to the University at Vancouver just as they were changing to dual
language use. All of a sudden *any* lecture could be in French. Although she
had A level French she could not cope with learning Geology in French and
had to take a year off (she spent it in Quebec!) in order to bring her
language skills up to date.
