Yeahbutnobutyeahbut ... she had just completed a whole section of
algebraic equations of the sort x + y = z, x - y = z, where y and z were
givens. She was just having a mental block.

We all have "mental blocks" at times and maybe that was all it was.

But, sometimes, mental blocks are more that a process was been learned but
not understood. Anything that doesn't fit the process is then a problem.

Not saying that is the case here but be aware of the problem.
