But you can! In some contexts it's the correct way to add them and in
others it's not

If you had any common sense, or common courtesy, you'd not be so
argumentative. That is, you know precisely the context stated or
implied.

The statement [or any such similar] 5/10 + 7/10 = 12/20 is incorrect
as written, and you know it. It is not written that way, or should
not be, even when the intent is an averaging.

Now, stop being so petty, and try to concetrate on, and add to the
real issue instead of creating one.
