In my view, yes. As should the use of horizontal line for divide, and not
the -:- symbol.
The habit of a / for a fraction can lead to problems with algebra later, as
can the -:- . They don't lend themselves to good layout of steps.
Some other things:
The "2c's" x rather than the x should be ingrained- something else that
has to be unlearned later.
Proper "balance method" in algebra should be universal, not "start" (as it
seems to for some) in KS3.
Correct use of = sign, it isn't a magic bit of glue to stick chains of steps
together!
