Does anyone know this poem about a child painting in class?

Hello All

I'm trying to find a poem that I read years and years ago. I have no
idea who it is by.

The poem is about a child who starts school and ..I think...paints
yellow. The teacher tells him he is doing it all wrong and eventually
he ends up painting drabness.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?
Who is this by?
What's it called?
Where can I find it?

Anyone got any ideas?
