You can actually. Hold down the ALT key and at the same time type in the
ASCII code for the character. ASCII means American Standard Code for
Information Interchange and os pretty universal in computing. Each
letter and sign (there are 256 in this system, 0 to 255) has a
corresponding number. The normal letters, 26 small (Alt 97 upwards), 26
capitals (Alt 65 upwards ) and various others; such as punvtiation
marks, parentheses and of course, numbers. The accented characters start
around Alt 129 but aren't very sequential or organised. You can probably
find a list and their corresponding ASCII number on the web easily
enough. a search with "Ascii codes" should do it.
