This is why the "single" item is in reality many
independently produced items.
You don't understand "If the cards are made from many
different chips by different government departments it would
be very difficult to counterfeit."?
"single" item is in reality many independently produced items.
If we have a single item of identification ( and I always have
and always will belive thatt that is the thin edge of the
fascist wedge, probably why Tony likes it so much) then it
can't be many idependently produced items. Even if we have 12
different chips from twelve different manufacturers to choose
from, one card will have one chip and therefore the problem for
criminals will be to forge one chip.
Please don't get hysterical and talk about fascism. It has as
much to do with fascism as a bus ticket or an oyster card does.
You seem to be saying that anything that makes it difficult for
criminals is fascist!
How did you mange to form that view from "If we have a single
item of identification (and I always have and always will
believe that that is the thin edge of the fascist wedge,
probably why Tony likes it so much)" As I suggested above that
is the biggest use for the sort of ID card that is being
proposed.
I can't see why anyone would ever think that one card will only
have one chip. It's a load of rubbish.
Are you just trolling? First you derive fascism out of "a single
item of identification" and now you appear to have converted that
to refer to a single chip. Try reading and responding to what is
written instead of generating false arguments.
accuse me of trolling.
I am not talking rubbish and I have not accused you (yet) of
anything. I did ask if you were just trolling because you appeared
to find fascism in "a single item of identification" and when
challenged did not answer but moved on to "I can't see why anyone
would ever think that one card will only have one chip. It's a load
of rubbish."
said: "Try reading and responding to what is written instead of
generating false arguments." If that is not accusing me of generating
false arguments I don't know what is! Yet you have the stupidity to
say: "I have not accused you (yet) of anything."
Perhaps you are a troll after all. OK you do have me I did accuse you of
generating false arguments, and I still believe you have. Your extreme
reaction though is rather troll like.
being a troll.
More rubbish which doesn't use any logic to justify I word you say.As I said, you would do well to read the posts properly and thenYou seem to have things upside down. Reality and truth have no

arguments unrelated to the post, as the more educated trolls are apt

connection with you.
*If* you read the posts properly and then responded to what had actually
been written you might just be able to recognise that my, by now, belief
that you are really just a troll does have some merit.
In fact I suspect there will be only a single chip, containing all
the metrics. It would be considerably cheaper to produce that a
number of chips.
The white paper said there would be many chips with their own
individual security measures.
Remember the ID card project is driven first by politics and then by
cost. Don't believe everything (anything) contained in a Government
white paper. I still consider it much more likely that any eventual
ID card will have a minimum of separate chips, probably only one.
I do agree with this. I'm not a great fan of how politicians act. I am
a supporter of ID cards if they are done properly and an opponent of
them if they are not done properly.
They will not be done properly and even if they were they would still enable
any Government to control us all in every detail. That is why I am against
them. Even done properly they will cause the ordinary citizen much more
hassle than they will any serious terrorist, because they *will* be forged.
"An ID card would enable any Government to control us all in every
detail"? Typical scaremongering by someone who has shown he has no
regard for the truth.
