There are. What about the Misrepresentation of Goods Act 1967 and the
various Sale of Goods Acts probably apply too. Git salesmen like this are
probably falling foul of the law by establishing verbal contracts with the
customer that PC World cannot fulfill.

(I should point out though that I am not a lawyer.)
