Has anybody had any experience with Overclockers.co.uk? (or OcUK as I
think they're also known as).
I bought 2 x 1GB 3200 DDR from them in Feb of this year. Towards the
end of May one the sticks failed so I requested and got an RMA number
for the faulty stick.
I only wanted to send the faulty stick back, otherwise I would have no
RAM for the PC in question. However, they wanted both back as the sale
was for two sticks and not one. It was inconvenient as it meant having
no RAM, but I could see their point and sent both sticks back.
I didn't hear anything from OcUK but an automated email from them told
me that my RAM had been received and tested, was found to be faulty
and that replacements would take 7-10 days to be sent out.
The 7-10 day period came and went so I contacted OcUK about it and was
told that I would have to wait up 28 days for the manufacturers to
send them replacements so that they could then send them on to me.
I waited the 28 days and then a few more days (making a total 35 days
= 5 weeks) to give OcUK a chance to forward the replacements on to me.
Nothing happened so I contacted them again. I was told that they were
still waiting for replacements from the manufacturers and that they
would send them to me as soon as they got them.
Well, it's now 7 WEEKS later and still nothing. No RAM and no word
from OcUK. I just contacted them again and now they're saying that it
could take up to NINETY days for the manufacturer to send
replacements. They said it's usually resolved within 28 days but that
I just need to be patient.
So here I am, minus £99.0, no RAM and a PC that can't be used until
who knows when.
It's been a pretty frustrating experience to be honest. I haven't been
impressed by the total lack of communication by OcUK (except in reply
to my correspondence) nor the continually moving and ever increasing
projected waiting period for replacements.
I really wouldn't feel inclined to use this company again, which is a
shame because their prices are very competitive.
Anyone else had experience with OcUK? Is it quite common to have to
wait so long for an item under warranty to be replaced?
