I can't see why the courier companies can't put their staff on
shifts -
lots of other companies do it.
Most people these days are at work between 8am-5pm, and yet courier
companies expect you to stay in ALL DAY waiting for them to turn up.

Whatever he may lack in his knowledge of logistics, he more than makes

for it in his understanding of customer service. I would happily pay a
premium if I could have goods delivered at evenings or weekends.

You can have them delivered on a Saturday.

City Link, used by very many on-line vendors, don't deliver on Saturdays.
