If only more courier companies delivered in the evenings and weekends.
I can't see why the courier companies can't put their staff on shifts -
lots of other companies do it.
Most people these days are at work between 8am-5pm, and yet courier
companies expect you to stay in ALL DAY waiting for them to turn up.
This is quite often a problem even when someone does work at
home/locally. You invariably need to drop the kids @ school/collect
them/go to the shop for milk,etc/whatever. It's this 30 minute period
when the courier drops the "Sorry we missed you" card through your
door.
I reckon the problem stems from courier companies offering companies
cheaper & cheaper rates for delivery. Companies are too short sighted
to see that customers get pissed off with bad delivery and don't buy
stuff from them anyone (I avoid anyone who uses Initial City Link where
possible).
Some companies are now using a nice service from the Post Office. The
parcel is delivered to your local post office instead of your house.
You then collect it from the Post Office when convenient. This is much
better than doing a 50 mile round trip to your nearest Initial City
Link depot!!!
