Re: Dell's courier?

Dell don't pay the courier until the system has been delivered so it's in
the couriers interest to make sure the system is delivered speedily.

Also a lot of couriers are franchises, so if the guy driving the van is
running his own business he may have an incentive to work late.

btw, if anyone is looking at buying a high end dell desktop or laptop, I
have the direct line of a very good rep in their sales division - he's based
in their call centre in Ireland rather than India. I've bought a couple of
systems from him in the past and the service / price has been excellent.

delivery of a monitor between 5pm and 9pm. Odd timeframe.

to make sure someone is in to accept delivery (usually for residential
delivery only) and try and stop the carrier leaving it with a neighbour or
nearest person they see next to the address, which can result in the goods
being stolen,

mobile phone companies did this a few years ago to try and stop losses due
to delivery theft,

i doubt the couriers or dell will do this for long as they cannot sustain
the expense of employing people to work at this time, i would expect this
to
be because dell have complained to the carrier about too many items
getting
stolen and this is the carriers solution for a small time period, or the
carrier insurers have advised the carrier that they will not pay out on
anymore losses if they do not put some measures in place,
