the problem with these sort of services is the chain of people and companies
you are dealing with,
1. you dealing Parcel2go
2, Parcel2go input the collection into DHL/Securicor system
3. DHL/Securicor notify their nearest branch
4. nearest branch have to notify the driver usually by mobile phone when he
is driving and usually needs to know by 12noon, cant find the address in the
a-z
5. the driver is employed by an agency or is "driver owner" and gets paid
more for on time deliveries than for collections, and i'm talking 20x more,
so he doesnt give a crap about your collection and will leave it for another
day
if i had to use one of these services i would only use one that used
Parcelforce, as this chain is made shorter, an even better way of making the
chain shorter is to go to the post office
Parcelforce drivers are more directly contactable via mobile devices in
their vans which notify them instantly of any collection made online or via
their call centre,
they have to acknowledge receipt of this collection request,
i'm not saying Parcelforce are the greatest carrier around, i use them and
they loose stuff, but i've also used alot worse, namely
DHL/Securicor/Business Post/ANC
to be honest i doubt these services like Parcel2go will be around much
longer, i could set up a company like theirs tomorrow, making £2-3 everytime
i type an address into the Parcelforce collection system, easy peasy.......i
would expect one of the major carrier to sort out a deal with Ebay to
arrange collections and deliveries through their system, more moeny for ebay
.
