I was just thinking how wonderful life was, when "ThePunisher"
<thepunisher@xxxxxxxxxxxx> opened his gob and said:
Well that will be fun when one component goes faulty (e.g RAM) and you
have
to send the whole thing back.
Strangely, not such a negative when I take everything into account.
So if you got a system with 1GB of RAM (2x512MB) and one stick was faulty,
you'd be happy sending the whole thing away for a couple of weeks for them
to test and replace that one stick? even though you could use the PC
perfectly with just the one 512MB stick.
Of course it depends on the usage of the PC. If its a business
critical one then an onsite warranty, at least, should probably be
purchased too, if not a 2nd PC that would at least alow the business
to function.
Alternativly he could spend a day poking around trying to replace that
memory stick only to find its an intermittent mobo fault, or even the
PC may last for years with out a problem.
As he says £30 for a build is trivial compared to his time, I guess
sending away a PC for repair is also similarly as trivial.
